The Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS) has partnered with the Town of Marana since July 2024 to improve arterial traffic operations, safety, and data-driven decision-making across the town's transportation network.
Through this multi-phase effort, the collaboration has delivered support in areas including the development and maintenance of interactive traffic monitoring tools, traffic sensor inventory management, traffic signal evaluation and optimization, and safety-oriented analyses such as red-light-running assessments. The success of earlier phases led to the continuation and expansion of the partnership through Phase 3, reflecting the Town's continued confidence in CATS as a trusted technical partner.
Phase 3 builds on this foundation by focusing on targeted operational needs identified during Phase 2, including new and existing interactive traffic monitoring tools, advanced traffic management system configuration, a data-driven framework for signal optimization, and new applications related to speeding, intersection safety, roadside assets, and target speeds.
Through this multi-phase effort, CATS works closely with Town staff to develop practical, data-driven solutions that enhance mobility, improve roadway safety, and support Marana's long-term transportation goals.
