This project aims to develop Arizona-specific Crash Modification Factors (CMFs) for up to eight safety countermeasures using state-specific data. The project will address the limitations of using national CMFs by creating localized factors that better reflect Arizona’s roadway conditions and crash patterns. The work plan includes compiling and prioritizing existing safety countermeasures, developing a quantitative screening process to assess applicability of current CMFs, and calculating new CMFs based on observational methods. Tasks also include a final report and organized data delivery to ADOT. The project is structured to maximize the safety return on investment for Arizona’s transportation system by ensuring accurate and context-specific safety evaluations.
